Sustainability claims are easy to make. Proving them is harder.
That’s the gap Goldstar® is closing with the introduction of Digital Product Passports (DPPs) on select bags, giving brands and their customers a way to see the story behind a product instead of just hearing about it. But if you’ve never heard of it, let’s explain Digital Product Passports. Think of it like the ingredient label on a product, or the receipt that proves it is exactly what you think it is.
What Is a Digital Product Passport?
A Digital Product Passport is a digital record attached to a physical product. Customers access it by scanning the QR code printed on the sewn-in product label, which pulls up a full account of that item’s journey…where the raw material came from and what happens to the product at the end of its life.
How It Works
The experience is designed to be simple, in three steps.
- Scan — Scan the QR code on the product label.
- Discover — Access product information and traceability data.
- Share — Give customers confidence through transparent sourcing.

Why It Matters
Transparency you can trust. Sustainability starts with better choices, from the fibers selected to the manufacturing partners involved. A DPP gives customers real visibility into the journey behind each product.
For distributors and brands, transparency isn’t just a value; it’s a business need. A DPP provides the documentation and confidence to make responsible sourcing decisions easier to communicate and defend.
As expectations around supply chain transparency continue to rise, this kind of transparency is central to what it means to be a partner-supplier, and to back up Made Better™ with something more than words.
Built With Aware™
Aware™ is a fiber-tracing company that works with producers across global textile supply chains to turn raw production data into verified portable proof.
Each batch of material is issued with a unique digital token at the point of production. As that batch moves through the supply chain from fiber, to spinning, to manufacturing, to finished product, the record travels with it, with every step adding verified data to the material’s story. By the time a product reaches a customer’s hands, that story is fully documented and just a scan away.
Where You’ll See It
Digital Product Passports are currently available on a growing share of our bags. This is just the starting point because traceability will continue to expand across the line as new products are developed.
Scan the code, and the fiber, the facility, and everything in between is right there, straight from the source. That’s what we mean when we say the proof is built in.
